When Mt. St. Helens erupted on May 18 1980 all live in the vicinity of several
miles was extinguished. The tree trunks are still standing there
stripped off their bark and most of their branches. This can give you a vague
impression of the intensity of the expolosion when the top of the mountain
was blown away by the erupting vulcanic forces.
